Welcome to Cliftone Fold. We offer peaceful countryside accommodation in Clifton, near Brighouse, West Yorkshire. Our current stay, The Lodge, is a place to slow down, reconnect and explore Yorkshire at your own pace.
OUR HERITAGE
A name rooted
in Clifton’s history.
Clifton appeared as Cliftone in the Domesday Book of 1086. More than nine centuries later, its farmland and old field names still connect us with generations of Yorkshire rural life.
“Fold” draws on the Old English falod, a livestock enclosure, and later Yorkshire uses for farmyards and small groups of houses. Together, Cliftone Fold is a new name inspired by genuine local history.
Our family business is based at Hole Bottom Farm. Hole Bottom appears on the 1843 Ordnance Survey map; an archaeological assessment suggests settlement around “Holes Bottom” by at least the late eighteenth century.
